Assess, needs and capabilities, promote independence and encourage social development, by supporting aspiration and the achievement of realistic goals and milestones.

Griffin Social Care is registered to care for 3 service users, aged 18 to 65 years who have been assessed as having a learning disability, some physical disabilities and/or sensory impairments. Planned placements are the preferred method of placement, however Griffin Social Care may consider unplanned placements providing the admission is not detrimental to the welfare of the established residents.
Griffin Social Care’s philosophy is to provide qualitative, Person - Centered care. Providing an opportunity for service users to live in a supportive environment which encourages their personal development and promotes their well being and independence.
Griffin Social Care is committed to the principles of inclusion. Individuals are provided with opportunities to access community facilities, make personal choices and pursue activities and hobbies which they find fulfilling.
The local area is well served with leisure facilities such as the various local gyms which offer a wide range of sporting activities, Dunes swimming pool and sports centre and ‘Splash World’. Other local amenities include Southport and Formby beach, Freshfield squirrel reserve and Martin Mere RSPB wild fowl trust. We are also fortunate to reside within 15 minutes of the local parks in the area. Southport has a thriving night life with a range of musical tastes catered for; in addition, there are a vast selection of restaurants and pubs for socialising. Local clubs/activities include One 2 One in the community, and the ‘Learning Rooms’ at Four seasons. A monthly disco takes place run by both MYASC in Maghull and The Four Seasons at the Botanic Gardens. There is a bowling alley, activity centre, cinema, theatres, library, local art galleries, museums and other cultural facilities within the Merseyside area and beyond. There is a wide spectrum of amenities and social opportunities to encourage and engage service users and to promote choice and independence, these are just examples of some.
Southport College and King George the 5th provide further Education post 16yrs. Arden College is a specialist college which provides a range of courses and can accommodate and support individual specialised needs as can Midstream College located in Skelmersdale and also Hugh Baird in Bootle. There are a range of local initiatives promoting the needs of individuals and providing opportunities for inclusion and development. Staff support is available to help service users develop and maintain links with their school/college, career advisors, local employers and job centers if they wish.
Griffin Social Care is near a main bus route, all major bus and train links to Merseyside are easily accessed, and there are accessible motorway links to all areas of the country, but particularly the M58, M57 and M62.
Our
Objectives

To work with service users, their families, and partner agencies in formulating and delivering individual Person-Centered Plans in which the individuals, rights and choices are integral whilst always including the individual in the process. To support change and transition.

To ensure that each service user’s specific needs are met with particular reference to their abilities, independence, race, culture, religion and sexual orientation.

To deliver comprehensive training to all staff working in Griffin Social Care to ensure that they are competent in assessing the ongoing needs of the service user and of delivering a high standard of care and support

To ensure that all-relevant information pertaining to a service user is available, current and stored appropriately and that staff are trained in record keeping and confidentiality.

To initiate and/or maintain links with colleges/employers, key professionals and agencies involved in the care of the service user

To encourage service users to develop practical, social and personal skills; develop in confidence and independence and promote inclusion into the local community.

To provide support to service users and to seek advice from specialist services to improve knowledge/understanding and outcomes; and to assist service users to exercise their right to make a complaint.

To access an independent advocate to support a service user when and where appropriate.

To always ensure a value-based approach where the needs and rights of the service users are responded to in a professional and caring way.
Facilities & Services
Griffin Social Care is a four-bedroom detached house in an established and sought-after residential area of Southport. The property has a large rear garden with a patio, and a decked area with ramped access.
Downstairs are two large reception rooms. One is used for relaxing and watching T.V. The second room provides a flexible space which lends itself to activities such as games, reading and listening to music. There is a large open hallway and a downstairs bathroom with a shower, sink and toilet.
A spacious kitchen and a large adjoining dining room provide opportunities for service users to learn about healthy eating, cookery, health and safety etc.
The Kitchen diner is a pleasant environment to eat and entertain friends and family.
The first floor comprises 4 rooms. 2 large bedrooms for the use of service users, 2 smaller rooms currently used by sleeping in staff and an office. There is a large landing area and modern bathroom. Each room is furnished and decorated to a high standard done in consultation with service users and their families.
Each bedroom is a personalized space, catering to the individual’s tastes and preferences. Service users can bring their own furniture and belongings into Griffin House. Griffin Social Care Limited reserves the right to ensure all personal belongings meet the fire safety requirements.
Prior to admission the Registered Manager and Director undertake a risk assessment to ensure the facilities meet the needs of the service user and to ascertain what, if any, aids/adaptations need to be purchased to support the service user in placement.
